Book Broadcast is a post I have created to help ease the load of the books I have for review. It is a great way to spread the word, providing recognition to an author or publisher for sending me a book to review. I hope you can discover some new titles to read through this regular book post.

It all begins on a Monday, when four people board an elevator in a Manhattan officeElevator pitch small tower. Each presses a button for their floor, but the elevator proceeds, non-stop, to the top. Once there, it stops for a few seconds, and then plummets.

Right to the bottom of the shaft.

It appears to be a horrific, random tragedy. But then, on Tuesday, it happens again, in a different Manhattan skyscraper. And when Wednesday brings yet another high-rise catastrophe, one of the most vertical cities in the world – and the nation’s capital of media, finance, and entertainment – is plunged into chaos.

Clearly, this is anything but random. This is a cold, calculated bid to terrorize the city. And it’s working. Fearing for their lives, thousands of men and women working in offices across the city refuse leave their homes. Commerce has slowed to a trickle. Emergency calls to the top floors of apartment buildings go unanswered.

Who is behind this? What do these deadly acts of sabotage have to do with the fingerless body found on the High Line? Two seasoned New York detectives and a straight-shooting journalist must race against time to find the answers . . .

Pulsating with tension, Elevator Pitch is a riveting tale of psychological suspense that is all too plausible . . . and will chill readers to the bone.

If you have ever had a dislike of elevators, you will now be terrified of them after reading Elevator Pitch by Linwood Barclay. Set in New York, known as a vertical city due to the sheer number of high rise buildings, a series of deaths occur because of a malfunction in an elevator. Then a dead fingerless body is found in a popular tourist spot. The questions begin to pile up very quickly. Who is behind this? Could it be a terrorist group, or an individual with their own agenda? Whilst the city goes into chaos, with all elevators locked down, the cold hearted mayor is hounded by the public and media alike to seek out the culprit – or culprits.  Elevator Pitch is full of twists and turns, along with revelations you don’t see coming. The message to be found here is be careful of your actions and how you treat people – as many years later it could come back to bite you! Elevator Pitch represents another taut and chilling tale from the mastermind of suspense.
